Migration from LCS 2005 to OCS 2007 R2

Process overview

You can add users to security group using Active Directory Users and Computer snap-in.

Move production users from LCS to OCS


You can move users to the new Office Communications Server 2007 R2 deployment by using the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 snap-in.

To move production users, from LCS 2005 SP1 to OCS 2007 R2, using the Office Communications Server 2007 R2:

1.    Log on to OCS 2007 R2 server using the administrator user account.

2.    Open the Office Communications Server 2007 R2 snap-in.



3.    In the console tree, expand the forest node, and then navigate to the Microsoft Live Communications Server Standard Edition server that contains the user accounts that you want to move. Expand the Earlier server versions node, expand the pool name for the Standard Edition server, and then do one of the following:



4.   To move all users (or a group of users) in this node, in the console tree, click Users, right-click Users, and then click Move Users. To move only specific users, in the console tree, click Users. In the details pane, select the users that you want to move, right-click the selection, and then click Move Users.





Select Next

Select OK.



Select Finish.

Verify that the user is now present on Standard Edition Server.



Modify Meeting settings


Select the appropriate Meeting settings for the users previously moved.



Open OCS 2007 Administrator Console and double click the selected user.



Select Configure



Select IT – Desktop Sharing only for advanced user profile.

Deploy Communicator Client

Enable enhanced presence


By default, users who are homed on Office Communications Server 2007, after a migration from LCS, are not enabled for enhanced presence. To enable enhanced presence:



Open migrated user and select Configure.



Select Enable enhanced presence.



Select Yes.
